Only a USK Meeting could make me get up at seven in the morning on a Saturday.
Destination: Abrantes. Group of people: Very good!
I finally met people who knew only from the drawings, Javier de Blas (in the artistic residency), Carlos Matos, Suzana Nobre and Dilar Pereira, and perhaps others that I forgot.

1st drawing: made in a street of the historic center, with lots of bronze sculptures.
2nd drawing: at lunch, kindly offered by the Municipality and the Center Delegation of the Architects Association.
3rd drawing: Church of St. João, sitting in the shade in a doorway.

My drawings and a sketchbook are also exposed in the Municipal Library João Botto in Abrantes. This exhibition, comissioned by Eduardo Salavisa is absolutely delicious, and begins with drawings from Javier de Blas, and his amazing drawings of the Sahauris refugees. Downstairs and also above are the other invited authors who showed their "Travel sketchbooks".
My drawings are  from a special trip, that I do almost every day. It is a small part of the journey of my life, the one in the last three years I decided to "write" in sketchbooks, which are often a picture of my family everyday.

I did this drawing, probably  distracted in Ala Sul terrace in Alcobaça. Only then I realized that this large square, the one with the monastery, is called 24 de Abril. On the same day of the 42th anniversary of our revolution.

The last drawing was made on the back of the house, where is the entrance of visitors, with a wonderful sun. I dared to omit some windows of the house, the same ones that appear in the group photo, and unmask me with impunity ...

After lunch, and maybe because all the good places were occupied with people drawing, I decided to sit on the tiled floor to see if I could draw properly Raul Lino ceramic tiles, and the ceiling arches. After that glass of wine,  I did the best I could ...

Casa de Santa Maria I

Bem vindos!
Comemos uma bifana e uma omelete a meias, e bebemos vinho carrascudo a copo. Uma categoria!

This first drawing was made on the terrace in front, where I had lunch with Fernanda Lamelas, and also withVictor and Teresa, who made their debut at a meeting USKP. Welcome!
We ate a pork sandwish and omelet to divide, and drank a terrible glass of wine glass. Nice!

Serve the City

Fui desenhar o jantar comunitário Serve the City

I went draw the community dinner Serve the City.
Alfredo told us that the purpose of this dinner is not to kill people starve, but to create a moment of affection, attention and patience, creating a bridge where it does not exist. The guests arrive, they are then welcomed and directed to a table with a cloth towel, a marker and a candle. They are then served by volunteers who are waiters this night.  The dignity of the guests is the same as ours, told me later Jonathan, a volunteer for 3 years in Serve the City.
At eight-thirty the guests begin to arrive, the tables of eight seats have already two volunteers who talk and make company to small groups or single people who have just entered. They dine all at once.
I walked around, delighted to be part of this evening. I sat at a table of deaf-mutes, in a corner, the table was full. I asked one of the guests, the colorful headscarf lady who could read the lips, if I could draw them on my sketchbook. All of them said yes. They continued animated, talking a lot almost without making a sound. Beside me, the two volunteers Catarina and Barbara, tehy participate in the conversation as they could, Barbara, almost architect, asked me a pen and also began to draw.
An hour, a chicken in the oven with mash and an ice cream after I finished the drawing. Without interrupting, I turned the sketchbook, so that they could see eachother portrayed. The surprise and joy was incredible. They took photos, they thank the gestures, and tried as best they could, talk to me. And in that moment, I realized that drawing can breake the barriers of language.
About ten o'clock in the evening, the guests began to leave, saying goodbye to the volunteers, and also to me. We had dinner then with that group of great people. I sat next to Rafael, who was havinh his birtday that day, and in a gesture of solidarity, offered to all that dinner.
I really want to return, and perhaps not to draw ...

I did this drawing seated on the kind of statue step, towards de Alcobaça Monastery. In the same step, my son Vasco was playing with a plastic horse that we bought in tabacaria do Rossio store.
